Road kill

(... Unpacking my feelings after an upsetting
time during a drive this morning)

The beautiful body was not pretty any more

It struggled on the ground
.... with shattered bones plain to see
 

Just minutes  had passed
since a car had changed
it from grace and beauty
into horror and pain

and  I looked at its pain filled face
as it lay in shock and confusion
..... unable comprehend
what has happened....
and just why it can no longer
move in fluid majesty...

What could I do for you?

Nothing.... except to bring an end
to the pain.
